Can we have live music or a DJ at our wedding?

Yes, you can, until 10pm. The noise ordinance for Seattle states noise can't exceed 45 decibels between 7am and 10pm.

Our gathering is casual, can we have a food truck serving outside and have guests bring their food indoors?

Yes, our lower level is adjacent to the driveway and open area where caterers and decorators stage their deliveries. It is a perfect spot for 1-2 food trucks.

We would like our ceremony to take place outside facing the Puget sound and have our reception move indoors, is it possible to set up both areas?

Yes, we can set up both areas for both events on the same day. There is no extra charge to set up chairs outdoors.

Our planner has helped us design a special theme for our event and we have quite a few decorations to place around the ballroom. Are we limited in what we can do for decor?

Yes, we cannot allow nails, tacks or anything stronger than painters tape to be attached to the 600 year old cedar logs that extend to the roof and around the ballroom. They are sacred to us.

Is our deposit of $750 fully refundable if we leave the premises in the original condition and per the checklist?

Absolutely. And if you would like to commemorate the occasion, you can apply your deposit towards a brick at the entrance to Daybreak Star with your names and the date.

We would prefer to clean up the next day if possible, instead of after the celebration. Can we come back the next day to clean?

Unfortunately, no. We are an active Cultural Center with community gatherings and other events that occur consecutively so, we have to be in ready state for the next event each day. The only exception would be to rent the space for a second day. Let us know if you would like to discuss this option and we will provide a quote.
